Week commencing 29th June

Our focused story for the next two weeks is 'Duck in the Truck’. Please see attached a video on the focus words and Makaton signs we will be using which you can support your child with at home.

Our focused learning inside and outside this week is Physical Development with a focus on Gross and Fine Motor Skills. Specifically, push and pull on a large scale outside and small scale inside, to link with our story.
Outside, we have provided trolleys, crates, a car and some rope for the children to pull and push whilst also creating their own pulling resources. As the fortnight progresses, we will create a pulley system in the sand and water area for the children to explore.
Inside, we have got mud in the water tray with resources from our story for the children to recall, as well as brown cornflour to represent mud with vehicles to push and pull, creating marks and exploring the force of heavy or light.

To embed and support the learning from the last fortnight, we have enhanced in the classroom some tunnels, dressing up and caterpillar rockers. The tunnels can be used to recall the story and pretend to be a cocoon which we crawl out of to become a butterfly. We also have placed our posting caterpillar from our book buddies story sessions for the children to continue learning with.
