Week commencing 24th November

For story time, Group 1 are reading ‘we’re going on a pumpkin hunt’. We will teach the story first by using props to engage the children and create awe and wonder before we introduce the book. https://youtu.be/E7tk5udNYAU?feature=shared

The classroom has been enhanced with the resources from our ‘Whatever next’ story for the children to rein-act. We have added some large card board boxes for the children to sit in and pretend to go the moon just like baby bear!

Group time next week

Bears- Listening and attention games (dance and freeze, environmental sounds, following instructions)

Elephants & Tigers- what is Christmas?

The children will be introduced to Christmas at key group time first with a basket/box of different Christmas objects such as baubles, tinsel, decorations & a Christmas card and a tree. First they will explore them, looking, touching, smelling the adult will say what they are called and describe them repeating the name and then passing them around the circle. This will be repeated for a couple of days explainingk that the decorations go on a tree, they will then decorate their own key group tree which will stay in they’re nest throughout the rest of the term.

We are going to be writing letters to Santa, then walking to the post box to send them to the North Pole. We have enhanced the homecorner with Christmas teddies, and cleaning resources such a sweeping brushes and mops as the children are showing a real interest in helping the grown ups with jobs.
