Badgers' Room News

Over the next two weeks in the Badgers' room, we will be exploring lots of new exciting sensory activities, such as painting! The children love exploring the paint and using rollers and brushes, but this is exploring with their hands, feet, and lots of different accessories. The children will have the opportunity to create their own lovely masterpieces, and outdoors! The place they love to learn and explore the most. 🎨

During our attention bucket time, we will be focusing on the story 'Duck in the truck'. For stage one of our bucket time, we will be using a rubber squeaky duck, a pull and go truck, and the magnetic fishing game. This will bring the children to the bucket, and they will all love these causes and affect toys. During stage 2, we will be looking at Miss Wood throwing the characters from the story and their vehicles into a bucket of gloopy muck (which is hot chocolate, cornflour and water mixed) and then during stage 3, the children will need to work together to save them from the muck, as the duck is stuck! We will continue to repeat the same phrases and words to the children, we will also repeat the noises the animals make. 🦆 🛻 I have attached our communication widget board for you to see the main aspects of our story.

At our sensory song time at the end of the session, we will be singing the song 'Old McDonald'. This week the animal we will be focusing on is a duck, of course! During our sensory song we will, as always, have a lovely lighting set and a calming energy. We will give the children a fluffy teddy duck each for them to hold whilst singing the song to them. The children love this time of day, especially the lower lighting and flashy lights. 🦆

While inside, we will continue to encourage the children to enter all areas of play in the rooms and build their confidence everywhere. However, the Badgers have recently really started to take an interest in the home corner and role-playing areas. We will be enhancing these areas and expanding their knowledge and playing skills by adding things they may have seen at home here. 🧑‍🍳🏡

We will be continuing to have our independence, focus on taking our shoes on and off, and encouraging the children to try doing this themselves. To give your child the best chance at this, you could practise this at home with them. Also, Velcro or slip on shoes work the best. I have attached a video of how we use our now and next board during this time, as this is when we are leaving or entering the music room. 👟

You can see attached a picture of the next and next board we use at nursery. You may find it helpful to use this one at home with them as well, in supporting your child.
We have a very busy two weeks coming, and we can't wait to show you what we have been up to! Thank you :)
