Flowerpot Room News
Week Commencing 06/07/2026.
Over the next two weeks in the Flowerpot Room, we will be introducing a new story and song to the children. Our story is 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' who begins eating through lots of different fruits and eventually turns into a butterfly π¦.
Our song will be “There’s a tiny caterpillar on a leaf’ πβοΈ. Please see attached the video of us singing this song πΆ.
In the sandpit this week, we have added ball pit balls π₯ π. We will continue to encourage the children to roll the balls down the ramps using the language “roll, down, down, down”.
On the mark making table, we have added stickers for the children to develop their fine motor skills by peeling the stickers off and putting them onto the paper π.
As the children have shown an interest in picking things up with the tongs, we have added the Pom Pom tray into the room with different tweezers and tongs.
On the Velcro board, we are adding the different fruits, from our story, for the children to peel, stick and match together ππππ.
On the easel, we continue to use the Chinese Writing Paper π to mark make with. This week, we have added rollers to dip into water π§ and then develop our gross motor skills by moving our arms up and down, and side to side whilst rolling. We will model the language “roll”, “up and down”, “side to side” and “roller”.
Some of the children have now visited their new classroom with their grownups. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to go into their new rooms, throughout their nursery session, so that the children can begin to get used to their new environment in preparation for the transition after the summer break βοΈβΊοΈ
The sunshine π has decided to make another lovely appearance over the next couple of weeks, so please ensure that your child attends nursery wearing sun cream 𧴠and a sun hat π. This will help us make sure that we are all staying safe in the sunshine and warm weather π¦οΈ.
We also may go on a few walks around our community (weather dependent) so please make sure that you pack a named suncream 𧴠in your child’s bag so we can reapply when needed βΊοΈ
We are really looking forward to spending some of the last few weeks together in the Flowerpot Room π·πΌπΈ
