Week commencing 18/03/24

Over the next two weeks we will be introducing our new story ‘Kipper’s New Pet’. This story is about Kipper the dog trying to find a pet for his dear friend Pig’s birthday. Unfortunately for Kipper, this can be hard work as he finds out some animals are too sleepy, some are too shy, and a stick insect is too boring! 🐷🐹🐇.

We will also be asking the children if they have any pets at home - if you do, please could you take a picture of your animal and upload it to your child’s tapestry, so we can share this with all the children. 🐶🐱
We will also be taking the children to Pets at home to have a look at a few animals and what they might need to eat and what we need to look after a pet. 🐶🐱

In our group time over the next two weeks, we will be looking at listening and following instructions to action words. This could be jumping, skipping, clapping, spinning and rolling. 👏

We have noticed this week the children are still showing an interest in birthdays and making cakes with play dough. We will therefore continue with this and add party hats, dolls and cake stands to extend their learning. 🎊
On the play dough we have added some lemon essence to the dough, so it gives a sense of smell, some cutters, candles and cake cases to carry on the birthday theme. 🎂

Some of the children have really taken to the cars and ramps, so we have added these into our sand. This will help encourage the children to make tyre tracks and marks and good turn taking.🚕🚓🚗

We have also introduced some action figures/ dolls to our carpeted area as the children showed a huge interest in these last week in the garden room. We noticed the children acting/ role playing with them and communicating their ideas with other peers. 🎎

In our construction area we have put a farmyard with animals and tractors. This came from a couple of children’s interests and how they talked about going to a farm and what sounds each of the animals make. 🐄🐖🐓🐎🚜

What a wonderful few weeks we are going to have. 😊
