EXPLORERS' NEWS

Week commencing 18th November

Our focused story for the next two weeks is called, 'Room on the broom'. The witch and her cat are happily flying through the sky on a broomstick when the wind picks up and blows away the witch's hat, then her bow, and then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items, and all they want in return is a ride on the broom. But is there room on the broom for so many friends? A story based around friendship, manners and helping others. Below is a link to the story https://youtu.be/VKbOKlA6yfk

Our focused words are;
witch
Dragon
Broomstick
wand
cauldron

Our song of the week this week is called 'Autumn leaves' and next week it is 'head, shoulders, knees and toes'. The lyrics for Autumn leaves are; "All the leaves are changing colour, changing colour, changing colour, all the leaves are changing colour it must be Autumn. All the leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down, all the leaves are falling down in the Autumn. They twirl and flutter to the ground, to the ground, to the ground, they twirl and flutter to the ground in the autumn" The link for head and shoulders is https://youtu.be/S2eRNzsAZg4?si=j86BFUJ0AmbLAgSQ

To follow on and embed the learning from last week's Autumn group time, we will be conker rolling and leaf printing in the sensory tray. In the mark-making area we have added catalogues, Santa writing templates and envelopes for the children to look at and talk about what they would like, then 'write' or 'draw' what they would like. Next week we will then have a walk to the postbox to post them to Santa, then wait for our reply. How exciting!

To link-to the learning from the last two weeks focused story we have added cullenders as that is what baby bear used as his space helmet and pipe cleaners to thread with to support and develop the children's fine motor skills.
