Week commencing Monday 3rd June.

Our focused book is called ‘Oliver’s vegetables’. He visits his Grandpa and Grandmas' house where they grow their own vegetables. Oliver says he only likes chips, and he won’t eat anything else until he plays a game with Grandpa. Whatever vegetable Oliver finds in the garden he must eat. Below is a link to the story or you to watch with your child at home to embed the learning at nursery.

We have enhanced the classroom to support the children’s learning about vegetables, what they are, how different they look, smell and taste. We are doing vegetable printing in the home corner. We have added the different vegetables from the story with safety knifes and chopping boards, and next week we are going to make a vegetable soup where the children will get to experience peeling, chopping and cooking the vegetables to make them soft and then into the blender.

Our focused song this week is called the ‘Vegetable song’, and next week our song is ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’.  link for vegetable song.

I have noticed that some children have been showing an interest in creating different structures with wooden blocks and mega blocks, but some are struggling to maintain their focus. I have therefore enhanced with Duplo for them to use their imagination and creativity to create different structures while supporting their focus and attention.
