Castle Room News

Over the next two weeks, we will be focusing on Personal Social and Emotional Development as the children are still needing support to settle into the room routine, and Understanding the World, looking closely at:

- People and communities while we look at where we live and celebrate Lincolnshire Day and feel a part of our Castle Community
- Being caring, as we feel more confident to navigate the nursery independently and leave our main carers

On the Creative Table we are creating a colourful sun catcher together. This is because we noticed the children are doing lots of creating individually and are finding it sharing a space while they create. Making a collaborative piece, we are learning to work alongside each other and share the space.

In the Garden we have created Sensory Boxes, where the children use their senses other than sight to explore what is inside. We have done this because we have noticed the children were not accessing the open areas until we created a more sensory-focused experience in playhouse and open spaces. We know this because, when we introduced the jelly and potion bottles the previous week, the children were significantly more engaged in these areas.

On the Mark Making Table, we have added the provocation of a birthday cake and invitations. This is because we have noticed some of the children are beginning to have birthdays, and celebrating together supports building those community bonds. We know this because the children are singing to each other, taking turns to be the birthday child, and celebrating with their friends both in and outside their key groups.
