Badgers' Room News

Over the next two weeks, Badgers, we have so much fun things planned!
Here are a few things we will be up to.
During our bucket time we will be looking at the story 'The very hungry caterpillar'. During stage one of bucket time, we will be looking at all the different food that the caterpillar ate in the story. We will be naming it and using the Makaton, I have attached a video of how you can use these signs at home as well. We will then be using our caterpillar tube for the children to help place the food 'in' the caterpillar, and repeating the word 'in'. Then, for stage 2 of bucket time, the children will watch me create a 'caterpillar' using balloons and sticking them to the floor with shaving foam. Stage 3 is for the children to then pop their own balloon. However, for week 1 of this story, we are going to allow the children to take the balloon and explore it however they would like to, and encourage them to touch and squeeze and learn the balloon, then next week we will pop them! 🐛

During our sensory song, we will be continuing the song of Old McDonald. The children have really enjoyed singing this about the duck and the frog from last week's story Duck in the Truck, so we have decided we will continue with other farm animals, and we will be looking this week at horses and next week at cows. Again, encouraging the children to get involved, using the darker twinkly lights and singing the song calmly and slowly is how we find this works best. 🐴 🐮

We will, of course, be spending plenty of our time outside, and this week will be focused on using cars and bikes and seeing how we can manoeuvre these round the garden safely. The children will have access to these all week. 🚲

As for our independence focus, we will be concentrating on putting our shoes on! As wow, in two weeks of really supporting taking our shoes off and watching and learning, we have all managed it and now all the badgers are able to do this! Well done badgers! So we will now continue supporting putting their shoes on. 👟
